This began when I was 16 years old. My friends and I learned this new internet popularity thing among boys. And it was porn. So, like most of the teenagers, me and my friends watched porn.
We would go to someone’s house, and secretly watch porn. And it’s okay for just a short experience.
But the issue arises when it becomes an addiction. My friends found their way out. For me it was a different story.
Porn helped me lower my stress levels. So, whenever I feel stressed, here comes adult movies to save me. But in reality it was ruining my life.
How can any addiction ruin your life?
I don’t know what an addiction is, or if I even have it. But by definition, I have one. And for me it is my bad habit.
My addiction helped me lower my stress levels. But this was only in the short term. And I didn’t know, nor was I ready for what came in the future. Now, there may be questions about how a teenager has stress. But that’s another story.
Addictions will surely release stress, but that is in the short term. Whatever small habit you have to lower your stress or distract you from your pain, worry, or challenges, that is nothing but an addiction. Or a bad habit.
It not only breaks your trust. But it also, slowly, makes you feel miserable about life. Making you realise that if only you would have done things differently.
Addiction will ruin your relationships, your self worth and your self image. Slowly, as your bad habits are practised from year to year, your challenges stack up above each other.
And then you have a pile of challenges that you avoided. And to distract yourself from your challenges, you find your bad habits again.
Through Challenges.
There is no shortcut cure for changing your bad habits, but through practise. Bad habits are formed to avoid something. So, instead of avoiding something, you have to build the courage to face it.
I used to think change should happen in an instant. And if results were not there, turn back to bad habits. But in reality, changes take time. And a whole lot of time.
Facing challenges becomes tough, at first. But as you grow into it, it gets better. Step by step, one foot after another, you have to build your way.
As soon as you start your journey to chan, many challenges will come up. And the only way through is by taking those challenges.
