There’s a time to act and there’s a time when we should affirm to ourselves to build courage. But how many times do we affirm ourselves in tough situations.
Do we do it a number of times or only once to refocus?
Well, I found this in a weird way. At first, I affirmed everyday and every minute all the positives that I wanted to have. When in between friends, when alone, whenever I was conscious.
But here’s a fact: whatever I affirmed and however many times I affirmed, it didn’t change the fact that I didn’t act in what I believed.
And this built nothing but false hopes.
Now, back to present, I was focused on what others might think, and reminded myself, only once, that, “I am confident in myself. And my choices are important.”
Only once I reminded myself of this, but the effects of this affirmation were better than continuously feeding something you eventually stop believing.
So, what happened when I just said once?
Nothing much. Just the meaning of the very sentence was what I wanted it to be. Affirming it continuously, gives it different meaning every time I say it. Or at least to me it did that.
