Let’s not boast about the importance of a morning ritual. Many have talked about it and many have impressed upon the perks of a morning ritual.
Many of them start their day at 5’o clock in the morning – they wake up, do a workout, have cold baths, and start working on their to-do lists. No phones are touched and only focused work is done to begin the day.
So, why is it important to have a morning ritual and how can you make your own morning ritual that is convenient for you?
A morning ritual performs magic when it is designed for you to get better. Better mentally and physically. It will, like many say, kickstart your day. And in time, it will build discipline, focus and align yourself with your true nature of behaviour.
A morning ritual only takes 1 hour of your time. But that 1 hour builds up your energy and focus for the day. Here is a list of my morning actions:
- Cleaning up my bed (because a clean bed looks better).
- Cleaning myself (brushing, washing my face and so on).
- Stretching (it helps me be flexible the whole day. My body opens up).
- Workout (pushups, crunches and squats. This keeps me fresh and healthy).
- Cold bath (to maintain discipline and hit my body to get up).
- Meditation (to clear my mind of thoughts and build focus).
And after, I begin working on my goals. Stating my reason to do an action gives me a reason to do it. Or why am I doing it if I don’t know the outcome?
A morning ritual is a selfish act, that one must do lovingly and without guilt. Here are some pointers to start building your own personal morning ritual:
- You have to have a goal to know why you are doing a morning ritual and it needs to be from the heart. Personal.
- You have to understand that every second, rep and repetition you do adds up to make a great wall. For this, you have to be mentally prepared, patient and disciplined. Get hard evidence: Change your mindset, take responsibility and take action.
- A morning ritual needs to solve the day-to-day challenges that you face. These are personal. Feeling soggy, negative thoughts, low on energy, feeling sleepy and so on.
- You must sleep enough to start a morning ritual and stay awake the whole day.
- In a day, you can sleep for a while. Remember, YOU ARE TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF AND NOT EXPLOITING YOUR BODY AND MIND.
- Start small. Don’t perform a morning ritual by copying someone in a better position than you are. Start with small actions, find what is good for you and your mind and then evolve around it.
- Sleeping at a selected time is also important.
- Start with what is suitable for your body. And then build the discipline to perform it regardless.
In the end, I would like to say, build a morning ritual that supports your body and mind. Begin with small actions and build upon them.
And the benefits of a morning ritual, as you know, are life-changing.
