15: How does Setting Goals helps You Improve Your Life?

People with goals succeed because they know where they’re going.

Earl Nightingale

On 16 September 2022, evening, I understood the real difference between people who set goals and people who don’t. As I was walking on the curb, this thought popped and now I am sharing it with You.

While walking to my home, my mind kept talking and analyzing things around me constantly. It was conversing in my mind. And then there were the outside voices: the people.

There are hundreds of voices conversing simultaneously in our heads, never resting for a second: They are doubt, fear, courage, love, passion and much more. Then there are voices of the people, never listening but talking the same way – you should do that, I would’ve been a great choice, whom does he think he is, you should complete your degree, and so on.

Because of so many suggestions, talks, words and opportunities, we miss out on what really matters to us, and that is: listening to us, resulting in depression, stress, fear, anxiety, regret and remorse.

A single person listens to these conversations, never knowing what he wants, leaving him confused, and thus not reaching his ultimate peak performance, not taking care of his mental health and so on.

Importance of Goals:

Goals help us in keeping our focus on a destination that we want to reach. Once you set a goal that you want to achieve, it becomes easier to shut down the voices: the voices in your head and outside voices.

Goals make it easier to focus on one thing and take actions in only that particular direction.

When you set a goal it becomes your responsibility to act on it, to change and to improve. The goal is the destination that you want to reach. And then, the plan, actions and thoughts are your way to reach that destination.

So, set a goal that you want to achieve to become more of who you are.
